ResearchLearning Systems Learning Pros Looking to DESPITE SLUGGISH ECONOMY, 'IT'S TIME,' SAY RESPONDENTS TO OUR ANNUAL SURVEY. BY JERRY ROCHE Update In Elearning! and Government Elearning! magazines' "Learning and Talent Management Buyer Survey," 40 percent of executives reportedly plan to add, change or replace their current LMS and/or TMS. Despite the current recession that has slowed the economy, the survey indicates that execu- tives expect to invest more than $780,000 on learning and train- ing systems in the coming months. The 40 percent is a full 24 Annual 2010 8 points higher than last year, representing a 25 percent increase in buying intention. This study of 316 organiza- tions provides insight into the features enterprises require, the composition of the buying team, brand awareness, and ratings of the current systems. Here is some notable data that can be gleaned from the survey: >> Organizations represented in this survey plan to invest $4.679 million this year on Their Current Learning & Talent Systems enterprise learning initia- >> tives company wide. 58% of respondents have an LMS or TMS in the organization, down from 62% in 2009. Forty-five percent use an enterprise LMS, 41% SaaS-based LMS, and 12% open-source LMS. Thirteen percent use an enterprise LCMS, 9% >> SaaS, and 5% open source. Talent suites are implement- ed by 17% of respondents, Elearning!
