Best of
Awards: Five Multiple Winners in 2011
SEVEN COMPANIES REPEAT IN THEIR SPECIFIC CATEGORIES
BY JERRY ROCHE
Five vendors were multiple winners in the seventh annual Best of Elearning! awards. The multiple winners include eCornell,
which actually won in three categories: Best LMS (SaaS), Best Leadership Training, and Best Compliance-Certification Program. "What I enjoy most about the Best of
E-Learning! awards program is that it allows the buyers and users of the many products and services in our industry to provide first-hand input about their usefulness and overall impact on training operations," says Chris Proulx, CEO of eCornell. "It's unique … the only true reader's choice award program in the market- place. We are very pleased and thankful to have been recognized by so many of our customers." Double-winners were SkillSoft, Articulate, Brainshark and Adobe.
This year's results featured new winners
in many categories, including some that have been dominated by perennial winners in the past. For instance, in the Best LMS (enterprise) category, Meridian KSI was a first-time winner, as was BizLibrary in the Best LMS (SaaS) category. Overall, 26 per- cent of this year's winners were either new to the program or new to a category. "To be named a category winner is a true
testament to the vendor's product and service excellence," says Catherine Upton, Elearning! Media Group's publisher. "And, given the number of nominations, to earn an Award of Excellence also is quite an honor." No less than seven companies were
repeat winners in specific categories: >> Adobe (Simulation, Web Seminar,
>> Virtual Classroom)
Articulate (E-learning Development, >> Assessment)
>> eCornell (Leadership Development) Moodle (Open-Source Solution)
>> OutStart (LCMS) >> SkillSoft (I.T. Content) >> Interactyx (Social Learning)
The Best of Elearning! award-winners
were honored at the Enterprise Learning! Conference & Expo at the Anaheim (California) Hilton Hotel. Finalists in each category were honored with awards of excellence. Altogether, 56 products across 20 cate-
gories were named best-in-class by learn- ing professionals and executives in 2011. Since 2004, 182 different companies and 327 products have been honored. Approximately 1750 nominations were
collected over the three-month balloting period earlier this year. Recipients were chosen by readers of Elearning! and Government Elearning! magazines via an open-ended online ballot. Next year's balloting opens May 1, 2012
at www.2elearning.com. Here are the 2011 honorees:
